Retake with SAT 2320?

Hi everyone,

So I got my December SAT scores back and the breakdown is 750 CR, 770 M, 800 W E12. I know, before everyone starts yelling at the computer screen and judging me, let me explain...

The thing is, I want to get into a competitive school and my initial goal was 2350+. I think I was most disappointed that I probably did a stupid mistake on math (I should have had no problem getting an 800), and on some of my practice tests, I did significantly better.

I don't really want to retake it because its tedious and I might do worse, but I still kinda wanted that 2350+, and also because I usually do well on the math. But I also don't wanna come across as overly obsessive about my scores either.

So, is it really true that all colleges count 2300+ as the same?
Can someone explain to me 'superscore', and is it worth it for 30-50 more points?

Thanks guys!

Yes it does not matter once it’s above 2300.
Don’t do that to yourself when it will not make a difference.

I’m in a kind of similar dilemma.
I actually got 2370, but i only got a 9 on the essay…not sure if i need to retake now…

Don’t retake. Your scores are excellent. Relax and revel in the accomplishment of breaking 2300 (which is not to be diminished by ridiculously high standards)! Congrats!

Superscoring essentially allows you to pick your highest subscore from all the SAT’s you’ve taken, and then add those three top scores together. So say you retook it, and got 780 CR, 800 M, and 750 W. Superscoring would make your final score a 2380, instead of 2320. However, your score is already great, and as the other posters before me have already stated, there honestly is no need for you to retake it. However, if it really bothers you that much, and you can afford it, it can’t hurt that much to retake it.

retake if you are really bothered by it, but to be honest, anything you get above 2300 is largely due to luck. Your score is fine and i’m sure your academics are great as well. If you’re worried about college, I suggest you focus much of your energy on your essay, as it is what you can really use to set yourself aside from the rest of your competition.

Is this a ■■■■■?

Okay. Thanks guys for all the input!

And no, I don’t see the point in this being a ■■■■■. I just never posted before because I mainly use cc sparingly as a ‘resource.’ But this time I needed personalized advice, and I found it to be quite helpful. :)
