Retake-worthy SAT II score

Obviously, retaking a 770 for an 800 would look immature and test-obsessed. But what exactly should be the cut-off point for the following SAT IIs?

-US History
-Math Level 2

The Math Level 2 has an insanely generous score, and a 740 is likely to be something around a 70th percentile.

FOr an IVY-CALIBUR (top tier) college, what is an SAT II score that is retake-worthy? What is the highest original score (I know this is subjective) that won’t be viewed as immature if retaken?

I got a 680 on my MathII and got into MIT. shrugs

Just make sure you're happy with your score. ~700 (some higher will help) is competitive for top-tier colleges. Your SATII scores will NOT get you into a college simply because they are top percentile. Just make sure they're high enough to fit in their pool, which is generally 700-750.

If you're above a 750, definitely don't re-take. If you get rejected, it won't be only the 750 score that did it. Um, anything lower is really subjective. Re-take if you have a good reason to think you'll score higher - you were sick the day of the test, took a class in the subject, put in intense hours of studying, a cute guy/girl sat in front of you, etc.

Wow, kate that's awesome...i heard they accept 29% of their female applicants, and only 13% of their male..good job on getting in

As for mathIIC, they have a generous curve because only smart people take it, all the idiots are forced to take math so they take IC instead...

"As for mathIIC, they have a generous curve because only smart people take it, all the idiots are forced to take math so they take IC instead..."
That's mean.

I agree with the 750 rule

Arg, I hate posting on forums because I cant convey any emotions with them. Sorry Izzy if I offended you. I merely mean that people who are less than spectacular at Math usually take IC, so the percentile really means nothing.

i dont think its a question of tone since you said "idiots" but I'm really not going to get into it, lets just drop that whole thing and move on

Most kids who take IIc might not have scored as well on Ic since Ic tests more things they haven't covered since basic geometry. It depends what math level you've taken up to.
