retake?

k guys. I need ur help. I took the SAT in october and got a 1910( Cr 580, math 700, writing 630 essay 8). Should i retake? I am not applying to top notch ivies. I just want to get into USC, UCLA, or UCB. I know i cannot drastically increase my score by december, but should i retake for that CR score? My other parts of my application are very strong. I have a Uc gpa of about a 4.21, and ECs with ALOT of leadership.

thx guys

USC = Definitely retry for 2100+

If you don't think you can break 2100, then don't bother spending 40 bucks just to get 30 more points because the odds of getting into USC with less than a 2100 are slim.

better a 2000+~~personal view

bump..................................

If I were you, I'd retake it just to see if you could increase to a 2000 (and up your CR score to 600+). Otherwise, if you don't, you still have a decent to good chance of getting into your schools of choice.

i thought it was easy to get into USC with a good school GPA and mediocre SAT?? has it gotten harder now?

I actually talk to a USC counsler today. She said that their mid 50 % for SAt was about a 1920 -2200.

Uh, three people already suggested that you retest. I'd be a fourth if you are eyeing those schools. It seems that you don't want to hear us say that you should retest, though...? Try to get above 2100 is my advice.

would it look bad if i took the test and screwd lower. would colleges see that?

sorry i wan't clear on my message above. Would it look bad if i took the test in december and got a lower score?

Well, if you score lower the second time that won't help your application, that's for sure... Do you usually score higher than 1910 on practice tests? If you do, then go for the retake and just try to be careful. I think you should try to break 600 with your CR score, though, and you're nearly there. If you take some time to study vocab and beef up your sentence completion, I think you should be able to raise your score into the low 600s or maybe higher.

i usually get 610-620 on practices. but i am scared i might score lower on math and reading.

also regarding the online SAT collegeboard class, does it have the same practice tests as in the blue book or different ones.

retake retake retake

USC is border-line ivy league. You have to have good GPA and SAT to get in. Even more so if you want to get into the engineering college.
