How bad would it look if I retook a class? I want to retake one chemistry course from freshman year when I am a junior. I got a C and thats my only C.

Not worth it.

really? why not

There are no advantages to doing so unless your school is actually going to erase the previous grade from your transcript, which is very rare. (Many students who think their school is going to do this are later unpleasantly surprised.) Most schools retain the grade on the transcript but do not include it in the GPA. This is useless, since AMCAS recalculates your GPA including all grades anyway.

Therefore, the best case scenario is that you get a C and then an A, in which case: "Of course you got an A, it was your second time through the class." Alternatively, you could always get a C and then a B or, worse, another C. Then: "It was his second time through and he couldn't even get an A?"

It's a lose-lose proposition. There is literally no way you can come out ahead. Sure, you get an extra A (or B or C, as the case may be) on your transcript, but you can do that by taking another course.

k thanks. 6
