Retake?

Hello all,

I'm applying Yale SCEA 2014.

Here is my testing history:

SAT
12/08- 2220
3/09- 2310 (710 in math)
6/09- 2320 (720 in math grrrr)

So, I'm definitely not taking the SAT again, but I'm nervous that my June retake will make me look "test obsessed." Especially since it wasn't too successful.

Now, Here are my subject tests.

6/07- Bio 670 (I wasn't a very good student freshman year :P)
6/08- Spanish 710
5/09- Bio 770
5/09- US 800
5/09- Math II 750

So my question is should I retake Math II to show that I have some competence in mathematics? I know this sounds ridiculous with a 750, but considering 10% of all testakers score an 800 on that test, I feel like I should score higher.

Also, should I retake Spanish? I got a 5 on the AP test this year, so should I even bother getting a higher score on the subject test?

Basically, I'm worried about looking test obsessed after my failed SAT retake experience. So just let me know what you think about Math II and Spanish.

To quell your first concern - no, it won’t make you look obsessed. Your 2320 is very impressive.

To answer your question about Math II - don’t worry about it. A 750 is perfectly fine. Let’s put it this way: if you don’t get it, it won’t be because of your test scores.

I wouldn’t bother with Spanish either. Yale requires 2 subject tests, if I’m not mistaken, and you have four 700+ scores, three of which are 750+, and one of which is a perfect 800.

Do not retake. Not necessary. You’re fine submitting the scores you have. Don’t worry, as Peytoncline said - if you don’t get in it will have nothing to do with your scores. Your scores will not eliminate you from consideration. It’s going to come down to all the other stuff - recs, essays, ecs, transcript. Good luck.
