Retaking 3 Semesters of AP

Over the course of high school, I’ve let some grades slip. My freshman year, I’d gotten 3 b’s and a c in biology. I retook biology over the summer and replaced it with an A, One of my B’s was in my algebra 2 which I am taking online over the summer at community college. The other two B’s were in my AP Human Geography class. Sophomore year, I had obtained a third B in the first semester of AP World History.

These have been bothering me lately. My class ranking is currently a 15/263, but if I were to replace these grades I could be tied for #1. Since I am taking 6 Aps next year, the ranking would be between two other people.

It has been my dream to be high school valedictorian for years, and a part of me feels so deflated when I think of losing that. Is it worth it to retake these three semesters? I am currently in my junior year and would want it to be done between now and the summertime.

My AP teacher moves Bs to As if a 5 is scored on the AP exam. Should I retake the AP hug exam? My freshman year I scored a 2, but I now have a better work ethic. Or should I take those three classes independently this semester? I am very on top of my homework and usually find myself with plenty of free time- however, I am worried taking 10 classes instead of 7 will become overwhelming. I am also concerned that it will interfere with my studying for the SAT. This is my last chance to change these grades before college admissions.

What do you guys think?

Personally, I’d get over it and move on.

Thanks - it is very tempting to do that but I feel disappointed in myself at the same time so I feel hesitant

check to see if retaking the human geography test would change your grade, 2-3 years later. If so, that would be the best option. If you really want to, you could retake the semester of AP World over the summer but its not gonna count for anything but val.

@snowfairy137 Thanks - that would be the easiest way, but I’m worried that it’s too much of a gamble (what if I get a 4?) and it’s leaving me hesitant. Also, teachers at my school have the ability to change a grade whenever they want to, no matter when the class was taken, and I plan on discussing it with him tomorrow to see what he thinks.

@collegeboundx well obviously study and take practice tests, but AP Human Geography isn’t supposed to be the hard, especially since you’ve done way harder classes since then. What if you get a 4? Nothing? A waste of 80 dollars? Depends how important val is to you. Remember though, val doesn’t really count for admissions bc it happens after them, its just for yourself.
