Hey all.

Way back in high school, I took AP Physics B, scored a 5 on the exam, and placed out of intro physics (PHYS2010 & 2030).

However, this past fall I decided to retake PHYS2010 because I didn't really remember the material well and felt that I really should have a firm grasp of physics for my major (chemistry).

I was told by my association dean and by past students that if I were to take a class that I already had credit for, my AP credit would be removed from my transcript and I would receive a normal grade in the class.

After consulting a most recent transcript, however, my AP credit is still there and it reflects that I have repeated this class. Furthermore, the grade I received in PHYS2010 has no influence on my GPA. It seems that SIS thinks I took the class on a "credit/no credit" basis even though it shows my grade that I received.

I was wondering if anyone who has repeated a class that they already had AP credit for could let me know if they had the same issue. I plan on going to graduate school and am a bit worried how my transcript blatantly shows that I "repeated" a class even though I never had taken a physics course at UVA.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I was told by someone that the registrar's office has to manually remove the placement credit from my transcript.

Thanks for your help and happy holidays.
