Retaking a Class

Hey, I got a D+ in one class this year, and I plan on retaking it.
Do I have to take it the next quarter (winter quarter), or can I delay retaking it until spring? Thanks!

Also, if anyone has a link to any official policy on retaking, that'd be great!

You do not have to take it next quarter, but it is recommended if the course is a pressing requirement for other courses in subsequent quarters.

As for where to take the course, you must retake courses at the location where you took it the first time (UCLA in your case). You cannot go to a CC to retake the course.

Also note that you have a retake unit quota. Look at your department website for the exact number.

like BH said. most legit majors restrict you to the number of retakes. for example, econ majors restrict you to one repeat lower div and one repeat upper div. anything more than that you are automatically out of the major.

Awesome, thanks guys! All the questions I had were answered. :)

if you take a class for the 2nd time…are the 2 grades averaged?

second grade will replace your first grade in terms of calculating GPA, but the record of the old grade is still on your DPR
