Yes I know this belongs in the UC transfer section, but I'd like to get insight from people directly in the science field.

Here's the scenario: This is my first semester in a community college, and the goal is to transfer to a UC to get a degree in Neuroscience. I'd really like to go to Davis, but I'll apply to several other schools when the time comes.I'm about to receive a D in Statistics. Of course I'll retake the class to boost up my GPA.

But the question is this: Retaking this failed class, how is it going to hurt my chances at admission at the UC's? When I checked Welcome to ASSIST, it didn't list statistics as a class required to transfer. I mean, I DO need to take it at some point, but in order to transfer I need to have the calc/chem/bio done first.

If I kick butt in the other classes, do you think colleges will forgive me for being an idiot? Or is this Statistics class going to hurt my chances of becoming any sort of scientist?
