I would never do this, but I'm curious...Are you allowed to take an AP test more than once? I've never heard of anyone retaking an AP exam, so I'm wondering. I realize that people forget the material over the summer or they just never learned it well, but sometimes people have bad tests. I can see why people would want to retake them.

Well apparently you can retake them according to the College Board's site.

How many times can I repeat an AP Exam?

You can take an AP Exam each time it is offered (AP Exams are offered once a year in May). Your grade report will include your grades for all the AP Exams you have taken, including yearly "repeats" of the same subject exam.

Post your opinion on retaking them anyhow.

Im pretty sure you can cancel an AP score and retake the exam the next year. It costs a lot of money though.

I took calc BC 2 years in a row, wasn't a big deal - first time was independant study

You can retake. I know of a bunch of people who are retaking USH...

you cant erase all scores, however, all scores are reported, just like the sat

My Spanish Literature teacher encourages all of us to retake our Spanish Language exams the next year, and most do, since the average score the first time is a 3.6, and the second time is a 4.4.

Are you allowed to retake an AP when you are already in college? (If you got a 4 and need a 5 for credit.)

if you retake an exam do colleges see the most recent one or the higher score?

if you got a 4 on an ap bio exam and you are going to apply to a really competitive med school should you retake the exam and attempt to get a 5?

^ Med schools usually don't accept AP credit. You have to retake intro bio in college anyway.

2 questions;

Should I delete the 1st score and take it again next year? or leave it on the Grade Report?

Can you delete score any time from your report or do you have until June 15th of that year to delete it?

hellojames,
I would delete the 1st score, that is what i am doing for one of my tests, and i am taking the same one next year.
you can delete it anytime, but if you delete it after june 15th this year, it will still show on this year's reports.

When you talk about requesting grade reports, say you delete one on June 16th and then request a grade report about a few months later. Will the score be off or remain there?

hmm..thatz a good question..

Good job at reviving two-year-old threads :O

Collegeboard says:
"Grade cancellation deletes an AP Exam grade permanently from your records. Grades may be canceled at any time. However, for grades not to appear on the current year's grade report, AP services must receive a signed letter requesting cancellation by June 15."

So if you delete June 16th or later, the score will still be on the current year report, sorry.

Could someone please answer this:
Are you allowed to retake an AP when you are already in college? (If you got a 4 and need a 5 for credit.)

It would probably be best to ask that question directly to your college

AP Scores are not considered during College admissions right? so say someone got a bad score for AP Biology, but would like to major in Bio for college…but the college(s) won’t see this bad score right? Since it’s only used for placement?

Should said person retake the AP Bio exam and attempt to receive a higher grade…
- will the college see both scores, or can the person choose which one to send/keep?
- If you must send both scores in, and the 2nd one is higher, will the colleges take the increase into consideration and will it still get you exempt from certain courses?

i had another question, but i can’t remember it at the moment…

Reporting AP scores on your college app is optional anyway.

I think some schools will let you retake AP exams assuming you are below a certain unit ceiling (I think mine does). But if you need credit for something, you might want to try taking it in a short summer session at community college or passing an examination given by your college or university’s department for the class. CLEP might be an option, too.
