Last semester I didn't do so well and I was wondering if anyone knows how retaking a class works. I looked on my schools website and the information is pretty vague. I go to SUNY Albany and I got a D+ in Calc 2. Am I allowed to take it over since I got such a low grade and if I do take it over are the two grades averaged or do they take away the D+. Also I was thinking about taking it over in the summer at another college but if I do that will the new grade help my gpa if I do well?

The rules vary by school. I would suggest doing some research on Albany’s website to see what the policy for retaking a class might be. I would also make an appointment with an academic advisor to discuss the issue.

The problem I can see with retaking at a school other than Albany is that the new grade won’t transfer in (many schools don’t take the transfer grades, only the credits) but check albany’s policy on that as well.
