Retaking classes

Hey! I’m a freshman this year and while most of my grades have been fine they are not where I want them to be. If I get a c in a class that I should be getting an A in would it be worth it to retake? I’m a pre med bio major & im coming in with 40 credit hours so it won’t affect my graduation date… would I be worth it?

Repeated courses won’t look good to medical school admissions readers.

For MD (allopathic schools), they will see both grades. For DO (osteopathic schools), they do grade replacement.
Talk to your adviser about this. Obviously if it is one class then maybe it might be worth it. If it is more than one, then you have to change how you are studying or you won’t be able to do well enough to go to med school. Here are ideas to do well:

Agreeing that talking to your advisor is wise idea. But I would say do not retake a C especially in a non science course. And even if it’s a C in a science premed req, unless you’re really struggling, I’s say move on. As a premed bio, you will be taking more advanced science courses where you can show med schools that you can handle the challenge of difficult material. Some Cs are not fatal to a premed hopeful. People get Cs and get into med school. S was major in bio area, ending first year with GPAs below 3.2. He’s an MD. Good luck.
