<p>I got a C in one quarter of a math class last year, and I'm going to retake it, not just because I want to give my GPA a boost, but because I really don't understand the subject matter.</p>
<p>How is this viewed? Poorly, positively (that I had the initiative to retake it?), or it just doesn't matter?</p>
<p>It's fine. It's perfectly okay to struggle in math and feel the need to retake it before you go on. I don't think it matters that much in terms of admissions, but I just don't like it when people ask whether this will look good or bad to admissions people, because that shouldn't be under consideration at all.</p>
