Retaking courses?

I'm now a junior in high school maintaining a pretty good average this year ~95. In my previous years of high school, especially 10th grade, I didn't put much effort into certain classes and ruined my GPA. In 10th grade I had something like an 81 average overall.

I know that because my transcript will only be based on 9th-11th grades my poor performance in my previous years is going to ruin my GPA. I've heard that some schools allow you to retake courses and they will change your grade on record; however, my school does not offer such a thing. I've also heard that it's possible in some circumstances to take courses at local community colleges that would replace other courses that I in my previous years of high school. Has anyone heard of such a thing? If possible, it would be best if I could take these make up courses during summer vacation between 11th and 12th grade. Has anyone heard or done such a thing? If so what should I do to find out more information about this kind of thing?

Honestly, just do what you can now and don’t look back. With that average I am sure you will get into some great schools. Spend that time taking college classes or developing an EC.

If you spend all that time retaking a course, you may not get into your desired school.

It honestly just seems like a waste of time and money to me.

How would retaking courses in the summer prevent me from getting into the school I want? Wouldn’t it only help me because I’d be improving my GPA…?

it would show initiation, motivation, dedication, etc.

And I meant to say that even if you retake the courses, you may not even get into the school, and then it would all seem like a huge waste of time.

Just try to move forward.
