I failed Sociology, and I wanted to retake the class at my CC in the summer to make an A. I want to transfer to UT in the spring, but I called admissions and the adviser there told me not to retake the class and instead take a different class. She said that this is because the "C (Avg of the retaken A and the F)" would factor in less favorably than an A in a different course. Is this true? Should I just not retake Sociology and instead take something else? Keep in mind that UT does not replace the F with an A in calculating transfer GPA. Also, I want to make a decision that would bump my transfer GPA up since GPA is immaculate to them.
