if student gets a C in ap chem due to having difficulty understanding material… then he gets A next semester due to better sutdying and udnerstanding, gets 5 on exam… the C makes gpa low… should he retake it over summer and get A overall in class to prove that hes not a bad student? how would this look to top schools?

If the grade had been a D or an F, and the student had not been allowed to continue on in the class for the second semester, then if the student needed to have that science class in order to apply to college, it would make sense to try again.
However, in this case there is no reason whatsoever to to retake this particular class. One C won’t change the student’s options. This student should get a job for the summer, and start saving money to help pay for college.
But wat if that c helps raise GPA and therefore class rank?
