Retaking Major Class At Another College

Hey everyone! This is my first post so sorry if I’m in the wrong forum.

My major is Business Admin. I got a D and an F in two major classes, accounting 1 and business law 1. I ended up retaking both at another community college for A’s. I’m applying to transfer next summer to be admitted for the Spring 2019 term and all my classes needed will be completed by then. Will the fact that I failed these two classes and did not retake them at that college strongly affect my chance of transferring? I’m trying to transfer to either CSUF or CSULB.

While I don’t know exactly how admissions will factor those grades into their decision, I think you’ll be fine.

Retaking these classes, and not only passing them, but getting excellent grades on both shows academic growth. At the end of the day though, I can guarantee that they WILL look at ALL your grades, including the bad ones.

There’s two aspects to this.

  1. Since you re-took them at different schools, they cannot replace the old grades which sucks.
  1. However, as @TransferStalker said, it's definitely a positive thing for your transcript. It's more important to actually have the basic classes completed.
