I am considering applying early decision to Cornell. However, my concern is the relatively low SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test score that I received when I took the exam this past October. I received a 690 on the exam (though I scored much higher on practice tests, and I scored an 800 on the math section of the SAT Reasoning Test).

I am hopeful that I will be able to improve my score if I retake it in October, but I am concerned about being able to include the score on my application in time for submission. Although on their website it explains that they will take scores from October and even November testing dates, what will they think when they see the low score on my Common Application (unless, of course, I can add the new score to the Common App before the deadline)? Should I make a note? Or should I even just leave the Math Level 2 score blank on the Common Application and indicate that I will take the exam on the October testing date?

I guess so. But I’d rather do as much as I can to ensure that I have the most competitive chance, ya know? Thank you for your advice, though. It makes me feel better.

The October testing date is the 9th I think, so your scores would come out the 23rd (2 weeks later now) wouldn’t it? I thought deadline for Early Decision was 11/01. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I wouldn’t worry about getting the scores to them, but I would put a little note somewhere saying that you haven’t received your October scores if you didn’t get them before the deadline.

I’m also applying ED, i did decent on SAT’s my first 2 times, and hopefully 3rd time in october ill do better, since cornell makes you submit all SAT’s. should i send in the first 2 then the october one later? or what? or just wait to send all at once, i want to send them all in at once

I actually just called the engineering admissions office. What the lady (who was very helpful) said is that they definitely do accept October SAT scores. Rush delivery is not necessary, but you can if you want to. Also, what she suggested to me was to send in your previous scores, but indicate on the Common Application that you are retaking so that they know to check your new scores.

:)

And don’t forgot, Cornell doesn’t look at writing at all.
