Retaking SAT and sending scores

Hi all,

S is taking the SAT Subject tests tomorrow and retaking the SAT Reasoning Test in November.

He is applying to quite a few colleges.

For SAT Reasoning, S received 690 math and 800 critical reading which should be fine for his safeties/matches. I was wondering if it was wise to send tomorrow's scores to his safeties/matches and send November's scores to his matches/reaches. Or, is it better to list the same 4 colleges on Oct and Nov's SAT and then just have College Board send the scores to all the other colleges.

thanks.

I don't think you can pick and choose--the CB sends everything every time you have them sent, at least that's my understanding.

The schools you choose in November will get all the scores (including October ones). Ultimately, you want all the highest scores to reach all the schools your son is applying to. I don't think it matters which schools will get it free, and which through the paid score report.

Let's say you take the SAT Reasoning for the 1st time and have the scores sent to colleges A, B, C and D. Then, you take the SAT a second time and have them sent to four different colleges, W, X, Y and Z. Do all 8 colleges see both sets of SAT scores? Say your second SAT score goes up significantly, will the original four know this or must you resend any new SATs? Thanks!

Hi Lukester

My understanding is that colleges A, B, C and D will get the first set of scores but not the second set of scores. Colleges W, X, Y and Z will see BOTH set of scores. So, if you want colleges A, B C and D to see the new, higher scores, you will need to have College Board resend them.

That is how I understand the College Board website, but I may be wrong. I'm sure someone on the Parent Board can clarify.

I believe you have to send the NEW scores to A - D colleges. The college board does not automatically do this for you. Colleges W-Z will get all of your scores when you send them after the second test.
