Retaking SAT = DEATH (does Brown even care?)

Ahh, I’m anxious because I don’t know if I should take the SAT again this fall. I’m a rising senior and Brown is my first choice. As of now, my highest combined SAT score is a 2130 (M 670, CR 700, W 760). I took the ACT and got a 34 (which is better than the SAT score I think, but I don’t really know how they compare.) Brown’s website says it takes either SAT I + SAT II’s OR ACT. But is it OK if I just send the ACT? Does Brown look at both tests equally or do they prefer the SAT like it seems some schools do? Also, is it OK if I just send the ACT or should I send both, assuming they’ll only look at the ACT score? It just seems too easy to send only the ACT since you don’t have to deal with SAT II’s or any of that *****; I also would REALLY like to avoid taking the SAT again. Does Brown really care that much about test scores anyway? God, I hate college entrance exams. Sorry this post is so long; this has just been really bugging me. Any insight in the matter would be greatly appreciated!

i would just send the ACT, as long as they get one set of scores they won't care which one, plus it's your better score.

and don't worry, though they will look at your test scores there is not a lot of weight put on them. they're more likely to look at say your secondary school report (grades) and EC's more critically.

good luck! :)

Your SAT score, while a bit low, is certainly not low enough to keep you out. Your ACT score is great: it's equal to about a 1500 on the old SAT (or 750 on each section). Send your ACT, and if they see the SAY, don't worry.

Are SAT I scores and SAT II's really sent in the same report?

Yes, they are

They see both bc when you send your score report for SAT IIs everything's on there.

Only send the ACT.

You can't...
doesn't brown require SAT IIs??

Not if you have the ACT... right?

ACTs are equivalent to the sat I + II

Brown will now require the ACT and the ACT writing section, you have to actually write, it's not just the BS grammar thing. I'mpretty sure anyways...I could be wrong. I would suggest just sending the ACT. It worked out fine for me.

Alright, it seems like the best thing would be to send only the ACT, so that's what I'll do. (I DID make sure to take the ACT + writing, so I guess I'm all set with that.) Thanks!

what books did u guys use for ACT that are the most similar to the test and give best preparation? how does ACT compare with SAT. which one is easier?

Nevertheless, a higher ACT or SAT score will negate the lower of the two.

i know Brown wants the new SAT, but does anyone know if it'll still look at scores from the old SAT?
