Retaking SAT iis

hey everyone. i was just considering retaking the math 2 and wasnt sure if retaking the test made the actual score look worse. i got a 760 and really want to do better, but if retaking could hurt my record, i might not do so. any advice would be appreciated!!! thanks

dont retake, you've already shown your proficency in math and it would only make you grade obsessed

yea, i thought so but i just feel like anything below an 800 on math 2 doesnt look too impressive for many of the top tier schools...o well

If you think only impressive test scores will set you apart in the college application process, then you may be getting your fair share of rejection letters. The whole process is holistic, with scores being one aspect. (besides with 12% getting 800s it really can't be that impressive). Make yourself speak beyond your scores.

i tend to get a little caught up in the scores. i guess the difference between a 760 and 800 is minimal and my time is best spent elsewhere. thanks for the help.

I wouldn't retake it. There's too much of a risk.

if your going to major in engineering, go for it

If you're thinking MIT then retake. Otherwise keep it.

Difference between a 760 and 800 is around 6 questions on a 50 question test. I would definitely retake.

hmm...i guess i'll have to think about it and only take it if i'm sure i can do better

take it only if you know that you can do good... otherwise its not a big difference. I heard bringing a 760 up to a 770 or 780 doesn't make a lot of differences to colleges. But if you bring it up to 790-800 then I guess it's good.
You decide... think about it... and study HARDDDDD

aigoo is right...bringing it up to 770 or 780 will look pointless from a 760, but if you get an 800 that'd be great

Just remember that if you re-take with the one and only goal of scoring 800, you are going to go through thirty terrible, suspenseful days. Consider whether you want an 800 that badly.

i think im going to retake it because i now get the impression that an 800 will look substantially better. but u guys are right...i have a lot of studying to do. thanks for the help everyone.

a 760 to an 800 is a significant difference because the curve on the IIC is so lenient. I thought you could miss around 6 and still get an 800.

yea retake because especialy with math 2 c colleges know that the curve is leieniet so an 800 would look way better then 760 especialy if ur aiming for engineering
