I just got my ssat scores back from february testing.....

68,54,87

It's not really a surprise- I can actually do alot better I just blanked out right in the middle of the test. I wrote a really good essay though.

my scores on the practice test were about 800, 750, 780

I'm applying to andover, exeter, lawrenceville, hotchkiss, and peddie

If your scores on the second test were in the range of your first test, I'm not sure taking them a 3rd time would do much good. Perhaps the practice tests you are taking are too easy? What book are they from?

the sample test was from the book you're sent when you register for the test.

Actually, the first time around I did better by about ten % and that was after barely skimming through that study guide and not really bothering to check how the test is scored.

did you have the scores automatically sent to the school the first time? becuase if not then they dont really care how many times you take them. the score you give them is the score they see. if you didnt send the previous scores in, then what you can do is take the best section from eachtime you have tested (maybe math from first test, verbal from the 2nd, and reading from the 3rd). or whatever. that way your combined score may be much higher

boarder can you really do that? do these testing coaches really help? I am asking because my daughter is in the same boat, and if she does not get in this year she may try for next year.

It is my understanding that you cannot pick and choose your best scores and only send those in. Some schools claim that this is what they will do when reviewing scores.

yes -I can see the schools taking your best scores and combining them but not you - the student - having the ability to send only the best scores from individual sections on different tests.

no, my brother did it a few years ago, the score you wish to have sent in is what they get. you can contact ssat and work it out with them to combine the best of each test. only as long as you didnt have the scores already directly sent in

boarder940 -- I just called the ssat info line to ask about that because this is the first time I've heard anything about combining scores working with the ssat. The person I spoke with, who seemed very knowledgeable, said that they do not combine scores the way you described it. I don't know what your brother did, or perhaps they used to have different rules. Anyway, that doesn't appear to be true now.

I know it's weird I called, but there are so many people who read this forum but do not participate in the discussion. Have you looked at the # of views for some topics? It really is a glass house.

I believe that schools will not see the scores from any other administration unless you specifically request it to be sent to the schools. SSAT does not have the policy the College Board does in which all test scores are sent.
