It is already October of my senior year. I received a composite score of 28 on my first ACT (28 on English, 25 on mathematics, 32 on reading, 25 on science) with a score of 12 on my essay. I recently retook the act, but I didn’t do as well that time due to my own folly. I know I can do better, but it is already late in the year. I would like to apply to a few Ivies, but with my score, I know my standing is shaky. The other parts of my application are strong (from a low-income urban school, lots of leadership in extracurricular activities, founded a club, Varsity letter in two sports, high GPA, lots of AP courses, etc.), but this one part is bugging me. I got a 1930 in my most recent SAT, but I got an 800 and a 770 on my two subject tests. Should I risk retaking the ACTs for the third time?
I would just put in as much effort as possible and take the ACT a third time. It won’t hurt!
