Retaking the AP World History exam?

I am a rising junior and took the 2011 AP World History exam. I got my score back this week and received a 3. I can't believe that I scored this low, considering I had an A the whole year in the AP class, and it is NOT easy to get an A in that class at my school. The teacher is intense in giving us a TON of projects, quizzes, and timed tests...and she personally told me she thinks I'll get a 5 (which she doesn't tell a lot of students unless she really thinks so). I was really hoping for a 4 though, so this score report was extremely disappointing. I admit, I shouldn't have crammed and it was totally my fault on that part. I've learned my lesson.

Maybe my FRQ's were too weak? Whatever the case, I'm not sure whether I should ask for a rescore or just study on my own more and retake the test next year? Don't colleges prefer you get a better score than a 3 if you were able to maintain an A in the class? This will show them what a weak test taker I am, right? So if I retake it to try to get a 4 or 5, would this strengthen my resume?

You don’t have to report the exams to colleges. It’s optional.

I would ask for a rescore only if you really believe that you should have gotten a 5… otherwise you’d be wasting money.

And if you retook it next year it would be a lot harder and you’d have to do even more cramming, so I’m not sure if its worth it.
