Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether I should retake the SATs or SAT subject tests before the EA deadline. I currently have a 2190 on my SATs (760 CR, 680 M, 750 W), but I know Georgetown doesn't consider the writing section. I got an 800 on the US history subject test (and will be applying as a history major), but only a 660 in Math II, and a 640 in Literature, both of which aren't very competitive. I didn't prepare for Math II or Literature, so I figure I can improve those scores if I take them again, but I also would like to improve my math score on the SAT. Unlike many schools, it seems that Georgetown doesn't want Early students testing as late as November of their senior years, which is what I had originally planned on doing. Georgetown looks like my #1 school right now, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would go for the subject tests. Your SAT score is well within Georgetown’s range so it shouldn’t prevent you from getting in. A higher score on the math subject test could also potentially make-up for your lower math SAT score.
Good luck!

@oboron That makes sense. Thanks!

What do you want to major in?

History, which is my favorite/strongest subject (and makes DC even more attractive). I don’t know how heavily Georgetown considers AP scores, but I was able get 5’s in AP Euro and AP US history, as well as that 800 on the subject test.

Your scores are all in the right range, including the 600s Subject Tests. Consider taking the time you would spend studying for more tests for working on your essays, delving into an activity, etc.

If you’re absolutely set on retaking a test, redo literature because you can argue it’s pretty related to your major (but your history score is obviously perfect for it). Forget about retaking math; it’s not worth it.
