UCLA decisions are not out yet, and Berkeley just came out. This part of your post is really confusing. As far as recent events at Berkeley, it is not the first or the last time it happens. This is the nature of this school and if you are uncomfortable with it, as many are, rethink attending.
All three schools you mentioned are great, with UCB and UCLA obviously ranked higher. It is all about money and personal fit should you have acceptance to all.

@svlab112 I stand corrected. If I got sucked in by someone just bent on stirring up the you-know-what, my bad. On the other hand, I don’t doubt that there are candidates/parents internalizing doubt about Cal based on recent events. Guess I just felt the need to defend it.
@Undercrackers. Agree with the sentiments of defending Cal. D is in third year. Most of the violent issues around protests involves non-students. S is at ULCA and while it doesn’t have the same reputation as Cal is not immune to protests and violence.

Yesterday evening, it took me more than 1 hr just to drive from Soda Hall (north side of UCB) to freeway 580. Police was everywhere blocking some streets, in particular entrances to 24 and to 13.
I didn’t know what was going on until late at night, when it was reported that they had been searching for two armed robbers.
Due to this significant toxic event, I told my D (currently a UCB PhD student) to withdraw from the school.
