I go to Ohio State and I am currently trying to major in finance and accounting. I say trying because the business school is being a real pain in the rear with regards to double majoring within the business school and they actually encourage us to major or minor in something outside of the business school. It is possible to do it since I have a lot of AP credit and community college classes coming and accounting and finance have a lot of overlap but the business school is making a big deal about scheduling and only having priority for one major so getting classes will be a pain. Also, we are switching from quarters to semesters and they are also making a big deal out of that, so whatever.

So Ive started to rethink my options. My brothers high school had him take this extensive quiz on what he might want to major in and I took it and got things like public administration number 1, urban and regional planning, political science, things in that after it. Though the quiz was extensive (took 20-30 minutes to complete) Im not thinking about this from some online quiz. When I started looking into colleges as a sophomore I thought I was going to double major in political science and economics. Then I changed it to finance and poli sci a year later and then when I was a senior I thought I wanted to major in Accounting and Finance. Really like the business world and liked the relative job security accounting could provide me.

Still interested in accounting and finance but Ive always been interested in political science and I love following politics and the government. Ive thought about going to law school but having all of that debt is not worth it to me (not extremely passionate about law) and I kind of want to be a lawyer for a non-profit so I wouldnt exactly be rolling in the dough.

But Im struggling to find the practicality of double majoring in poli sci and finance. Finance is pretty practical and OSU is pretty solid for this (though nowhere near target status for a BB or MBB consulting). OSU has a really good political science program, but I am more interested in going into the business world. But Im still extremely interested in political science.

I guess I will wait and see. Finance and accounting have a lot of overlap so I guess I will try to take those classes first. I am more interested in finance but people always say if you want to go into business, you can never have enough accounting.

Im a little nervous about dropping accounting though since accounting is such a stable field and going to the Big 4 from OSU is very attainable and relatively prestigious/good starting job. Still thinking about banking too, but I think Id like consulting a little more. Breaking into a BB from OSU is going to take a lot of work as well.

However my end goal is a top MBA and we will work from there. I really am starting to grow on consulting, seems exciting and I love to travel (though I know it will get a little old after a while haha) and the exit opportunities seem pretty sweet.

Also could adding political science help me for MBA admissions or MSF/MMS type degrees (still thinking about something like that, good OCR that might be able to propel me to the job I want, Ill be graduating debt free from OSU so Ill have some room to take on debt for a masters program).
I know that a lot of MBA schools like undergrad liberal arts and engineering majors and some dont like business majors. I would still like to keep my finance major, but would adding political science help at all? Or would I still just be considered an undergraduate business student? Liberal arts degree would have to help a little, right? Or no?

Thanks! Ive realized I wrote a lot so I think Ill stop now haha. Thanks again, any advice would be appreciated.
