Retire Coach Bowden Movement

The fans are very restless. Many loyal supporters see no relief until Bobby Bowden retires and Jimbo Fisher takes full control of the football program.

FSU is now 0-2 in the ACC for the first time ever coupled with a loss to USF.

No! We love Bobby!! We want him to stay. I really hope FSU wins a few games this months to kinda shush the movement a bit! :)

It won’t matter until the big time Athletic Donors have had enough.
After all they will have to kick in all the cash to buy out this staff.
Your average fans opinion is irrelevant.

The reality is that other than the USF game they should have beaten Miami (dropped pass in the endzone) could have beaten BC (missed FG / lack of production in the red zone)

FSU could be siting at 4-1 and ranked top 10 right now.

It’s not the coaches dropping the passes, missing FG’s and not being able to cover recievers.
Seems like these 4 and 5 star recruits get up to Tally and they get soft. Too many girls, too much partying? Maybe THAT’S the fault of the coaches.

PS for the first time in a while I actually saw the coaches screaming at the players after they had blown plays. Is the party finally over for them?
Hope so.

The article in the Tally paper implies the donors are no longer happy.

And the cash they need would NOT be to buy out existing contracts (Bowden, Andrews) it would be to pay Fisher if he does not rise to the head spot in time. It will cost them more to not make the changes…

The new rumor is that Bobby Bowden is moving to UF to replace Urban Meyer, who’s going to Notre Dame. Congrats, UF!

I can’t profess to know the specifics, but their problem is definitely a leadership one.

If this was a professional team we could “scream” at the players and fire them. But we are dealing with student athletes. Bowden clearly knew this in the past.

I suspect that once FSU became a dominant team, we simply attracted the best of the best. A team full of phenoms simply needs a play caller and a recruiter. On a side note, recruiting is a breeze when your a team full of phenoms (just look at UF). This causes leadership to enter a “cruise-control” mode.

Turning an average team into a great team requires entirely different leadership skills than we are currently displaying.

I disagree. I think he can serve UF better staying as HC at FSU. Bowden deserves a raise for the FINE work he’s done for UF the past 5 years! :)

^Yeah, I suspect so. (and I know you’re just kidding around :)) This may come as a surprise, but no team can maintain excellence forever, otherwise FSU with Bobby Bowden would have done it. The football “dynasty” FSU had under Bowden will be extremely difficult to duplicate, much less surpass, at UF or anywhere else.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Funny how when FSU was winning all those years I wondered when it would end. Allow me to assure you it will end.

I have more interest and concern over the next president of the university.

Having said that, I think that Jimbo Fisher has been running things for a while. What makes everyone think that he is the best answer for the football program? Didn’t things go down hill after Richt went to UGA?

I would consider other names.

The word is Jimbo does not have much actual authority. Consequently, we have not seen his program much beyond the limited scope of the offense, as is currently constrained, under the existing command structure.

p2n, all kidding aside, Bowden is a legend. Its unfortunate that his career is ending this way.

I agree. FSU supporters, as Chairman of the Trustees Jim Smith has said,

have been more than patient with Bobby. (Compared to UF and Miami, which change coaches frequently…though we’ll see what happens when Meyer starts losing) We’re not getting what we’re paying for and the time for change has come. We’ve seen it many times in sports. The best are sometimes so consumed with their position of prominence due to extreme performance that when they cannot perform any longer they have difficulty moving on.

FSU loves Bobby but FSU is more important than Bobby and alumni sooner or later make the obvious choice.

This whole thing with Coach Bowden seems like an impossible mess right now; but it will all shake out soon enough, the dust will settle, FSU will get through it just fine, and everyone will move on.

I think that Jimbo Fisher has not really been in charge, and we have no idea what his leadership qualities are. Has he been calling plays, yes. Is he ultimately in charge, no, This double headed dragon of two head coaches but not really is problematic.

I love Bobby, and I will hate to see it all end. But I think at the end of the season, Mr. Fisher needs ultimate control. Then we reassess his effectiveness when he is the coach, the head coach, and the only head couch.

TK Wetherell’s official statement

I find it really weird that we are getting a lot of crap for the USF game, yeah we beat BYU but everyone is acting as if USF is 0-5 and anyone could beat them, lets not forget that USF is currently undefeated and has blown out every opponent except for FSU and Syracuse. I’m a noles fan but USF has a good team this year, a very good team. We’ll see what happens when they play Miami.

They’ve beaten 4, arguably 5, bad teams.

Historically, even in bad years FSU would win at home against teams like USF.
