After seeing most of friends with higher GPA's get rejected from transferring to GAtech, I've been thinking about alternative methods to get in. My school offers the RETP program. Basically, you have to take around 2 years worth of courses at the school and maintain a 2.7 GPA, and then you are given admission to GATECH. If I take a full load fall semester and spring semester and 2 summer classes next year, I would have taken all the required courses. My gpa is slightly above the 2.7 (3.0), so if I can maintain the GPA (well I plan on raising it) in those classes, I should be in. It seems a bit too good to be true. Can you still get rejected?

GT has been getting more competitive every year, they increased their GPA requirements for transfers, and still ended up having a wait list this year for the first time ever. I wouldn’t be surprised if the GPA requirements for RETP go up since the transfer GPA requirements did, but maybe they would grandfather you in for being in the program before the hypothetical change. I’d do the best you can possibly do, you can pull that GPA well above a 3.0 if you want it bad enough.

Can international student take RETP?
