Retracting Admission...

at my school me do a commutative grading system so even if got all B's last semester I would still get A-'s and some A's because I got all A's first semester. Lucky me!

thanks... this got me really scared!

how about a 94 gpa to lets say... 89? or 90? AHHHHHHHHHH. does exeter do this?

That is not a very significant drop. That is like a 99 to a 94.

they arent going to rescind unless you slip from a 95 to like a 65, if you dont get any d's or f's i wouldn't worry about it (though i dont recommend getting straight c's)

I second that. They won't be harsh on rescinding offers.

Just received the request for final transcript letter today for Exeter.

i’m guessing your grades would have had to drop terribly in order for them to rescind admission, but colleges have an even stricter policy depending on where you go

PA-C : When did you receive the letter ? Is it by mail or by email, I still haven’t received from Exeter.

I got a request for my grades and they said my scholarship won’t be taken away for “regular drops”. The school understands that it is the end of the year and everyone isn’t as focused.

That being said, they want to make sure that I have continued “my commitment to Kent and to excellence.” I don’t think that they will care if my grades drop on average by 3-5%.

That’s interesting terminology: regular drops? As opposed to irregular I guess? LOL

Congrats on the scholarship though italian! :)

JC65: I received the letter yesterday by regular mail (Tues 5/19 and it was dated 5/18) I live about an hour away from the school so you may receive yours a day or two later.

Did anyone else receive one from Exeter yet?

I guess we may receive by some time next week since we are international.

If you just want to relax yourself and will be a nineth grader this fall. YOu can certainly do what you like this period. But keeping a good state will definitely be helpful to your upcoming study life.

I think a large “drop” would be something like, straight As in 1st semester, then 3 C’s and 3 D’s 2nd semester. Unless if your courses get unbelievably hard right in the 2nd semester (even though they wouldn’t… all of the classes? no.), I think this will tell admissions officers that the student has not been focused with the schoolwork.

Im a bit scared that my prep school my retract their offer. I had around a 3.7 GPA coming in to apply for these schools and a 3.5 my first semester of this year. Now due to me visiting Andover I missed several math tests (Team tests and indivudal tests) that I cannot make up since its a school policy. Although the lowest grade gets dropped, Im falling behind in the class due to me trying to catch up in my other classes. Im scared I might end up in the 3.0-3.5 range or worse. Should I still be worried?

I’m just a parent here, but sounds fine to me. You are trying hard, and still staying in the good student range. I think they just don’t want kids “checking out” from their last few months once they have a new school planned.

I just got my request from exeter to send in my final transcript. i’m glad that i managed to keep my grades on par with last semester…

They won’t rescind unless you go from like a 95 to a 67 or something.

They are probably also looking for explulsions/discipline problems. I’m sure everyone will be fine grade wise as long as you are Bs and above.

okay, i am a little concerned. i finished the year making the highest honor roll (all As in my last semester, lowest grade: B+ in my second semester), but on one of my final exams i got a B-. Still got an A in the class though. do you think i’m okay?
