Return India immediately or ...

Hey people!

To the point straightaway.
I have to decide between two college of equal strengths. They are very very comparable and I think both would be great fits for me.

Finally, it has boiled down to the factor that since I'd be returning to India after undergrad, it matters which college has more prestige/rep in India, which would ultimately help me get a good job. This is one argument.

The counter argument that I considered is that when you do get a job in India, it'll be after you've had 1~2 yrs of work experience in US. So companies here will look at where you did your last job in US rather than which insti you attended. But my point is, aren't we supposed to return immediately? Or are we allowed to work for like 1~2 yrs there and then return ?

College A
-> I love it
-> Great college - Great placement in US
-> Okayish rep in India. It gets a 'Oh ok' from most.

College B
-> I like it (i.e. to a lesser extent than college A)
-> Same point
-> Good~Gr8 rep in India. Looked upon highly.

I am being told that from a practical point of view, I should go for B. No matter if I like A or not :(

What say people ???

Well tell us the names. I would go for B, if I were in your position.

Correct me if I’m wrong usernamedel, but I think you’re talking abt Gatech and UIUC. Right ? Or UIUC and UCLA ? (Your previous threads cover all these colleges)

Go with B.

I’m not sure if you can work in US for 1 year (or whatever time) after graduation. If that is the indeed the case, then it would be a practical, as you said, to go to B. You can’t risk A.

If you are sure you’ll work there on a short visa extension, then go to A as that is the school you love. Because once you get here, your previous work would hold more weight. A copule of job switches later nobody would care where you did you undergrad :)
