Returning student and planning to transfer to UCs, do I still stand a chance?

As the tittle stated, my goal is to transfer to one of these 3 UC campuses( UCLA, UCSD, and UCI). I am planning to major in either Biochemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences. However, here is a little of my back story of why I am quite pessimistic about my chance at getting into any of those 3 UCs.

I attended and graduated from OCC with AS degree in 2014. I also got accepted into UCSD and UCI with Applied Maths major. However, my family went through some hardship at that time in which I was unable to continue my study., leading me to turn down both offers.

After 4 years, my family and I are now in stable condition and I am ready to go back to college.I decided to major in either Biochem or PS for my undergraduate degree and then move on to pharmacy school for my Ph.D. I really want to transfer to the 3 stated UCs but already having a good number of credits (about 65) and will accumulate around 120 credits once I finish all required courses (Bio, Chem, Physics), I wonder if they still consider my application with that many credits.

I also would like to know if anyone in this forum went through the same situation like I did. Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

Having the excess units is OK. They will just transfer 70 units but you will get subject credit for the rest. I assume your IGETC is completed or near completion. That means you just have major course requirements left to complete.

They like non-trad students. Simply tell your story - hardship. The major is very competitive so you need a relatively high gpa.

Yes, I completed IGETC back in 2014., only need to focus on the 3 science subjects now. Thank you for the explanation as I was really confused about their maximum accepted units like UCLA or UCSD.

The only time having too many units can hurt your chances is if you’re applying from a 4-year school. Their opinion is that if you’re already a senior at UCx or CSUx, then you might as well stay there and finish up. But if you’re at a CC, then you obviously cannot get a B.S./B.A. from there, so you have to transfer somewhere. Like @Ohm888 said, they will only let you transfer 70 semester units (105 quarter units) but you will still get credit for completing everything that’s transferable and equivalent to UCLA courses (which is more important anyway)
