Returning students: Have you heard about financial aid?

My D doesn't have any financial aid awards on the system yet. Her account showed that she needed to turn in her tax form, which she turned in back in March & again in April. When it still said it was missing in May, we contacted financial aid. They didn't have it, but they updated her account to say nothing is missing once we turned it in again. It has been a month. Last week, I emailed financial aid to ask about it. No response. My D is going to contact them again, but I wondered if anyone else is having trouble?

When my children were returning students, it seems like we never got notification of their award for the upcoming year before the middle of June, sometimes later.

Thanks. I work in a financial aid office, and we really get behind. For some reason, I figured Vandy would be ahead of a state school, though! :)

No news yet. Don’t worry about the missing forms though. FinAid loses stuff every year, it wil not impact or delay your aid as long as you get them in when requested.

we usually don’t get them until July

I had the same problem - I sent them my taxes (I’m a student) back in April and I got an email about a week ago saying they didn’t have them. I resent them and they said they have it now, but when I called the first time I was told that they were sending out returning students’ financial aid during the first week of July. I’m hoping that we get them then.

Oo nm I just got mine today. They took away my loans through the “expanded aid program” and replaced them w/ a work study. I think it’s cute that they think I have time to work during the school year.

You can trade your WS for subsidized loans. It does seem like a pretty slick way to say “no loans,” doesn’t it?

We got our aid package today. I guess posting here was my lucky charm.
