Info on the UNC website seems a little conflicting. In one place on the housing page, it says:
"All rising sophomores, juniors and seniors can move in as early as Wednesday, August 18."
But the academic calendar says residence halls open Saturday, August 21. I'm guessing the info on the housing page is correct; does anyone know for sure?

I’m pretty sure the part about being able to move in on the 18th is right. We can move back in any time from then until the 21st I’m assuming.

Yeah, move-in times are really flexible (more flexible than the dorms sometimes let on). I think brw828 is right.

I can’t find any info on when the fall meal plans start working in the dining halls. I even tried “contact us” on the dining website, but you need a PID to submit a question.
Does anybody know when the fall meal plans start?

HoComom, I’m glad you brought that up. The “dining halls not being opened” thing really messed me up freshman year. A lot of people move in on the 18th (or what is equivalent to that early in the past) and then are surprised to find out that the dining halls aren’t open. If I remember correctly from past years, the dining halls don’t open until the day before classes start or the day classes start. I think certain places in the bottom of Lenoir are open (like Jamba Juice) and Ram’s Head market. But definitely make sure your kids have food/money on hand so they can get food elsewhere. It definitely threw me for a loop when I moved in freshman year and found out the dining halls weren’t open yet. You can always call the dining hall people to double check, but that’s how it was in the past.
