I'm gonna be a 3rd year and it seems like the majority of my friends are planning on moving to the apartments, which kind of sucks since I still want to live in the dorms (especially since they guarantee 3 years of housing now). I'm too lazy to cook food and whatnot, and I hear a lot of the apartments close to campus are loud (parties and general unruliness) and expensive. I'm considering getting a single in one of the new res-halls, any take on those? having a quiet environment is important to me since i get distracted/annoyed pretty easily. anyway i still got a while to decide, what's everyone else planning on?

i'm in an awkward situation... i applied to study abroad in the fall... so if that happens then, well, i'd somehow need to enter housing or apartments in the middle of the year. oy.

I'm going to stay in the dorms again next year. Living off campus would have it's perks, but living on campus just seems to be easier.

Even though I was guaranteed on-campus housing for next year, I'm going to live in the University Apartments because I don't want to be the only fourth-year student (besides the RAs) in a building with mostly first- and second-year students. It's lonely enough being one of only two third-year students on my current floor. Cooking my own food isn't an issue, because I'm planning on buying a meal plan next year so I can eat dinner in the dining halls. I wouldn't recommend getting a single room, though, because I've been in one and the floor area is very small (approx. 100 square feet). Not worth the price, in my opinion.

^Flopsy

I'm going to be a 4th year living in the dorms, I know a lot of people around here who are going to be in the same situation. It's not as bad as long as you don't head into a Res Hall.

yea, my hall in sproul has a good number of 3rd and 4th years actually. i guess it depends on what hall you get.

oh and, speaking of the university apartments, how are they generally? my friend is looking into one and if he gets one i'll probably follow him, but i really have no idea how they are (ive never actually been inside an apartment).

They're alright. I was in one of them for a party a few weeks back, and to be honest, was not all that impressed.

I'll be in an off-campus, non-university affiliated apartment. Again.

If I can manage to swing a parking pass again next year I'm considering moving south of Wilshire because 80 year old (literally) apartments suck. And so do loud drunk kids. Not that my apartment isn't nice. Just...old. But if the pass is a no-go, I'll stay where I'm at. My schedules tend to be too weird to deal with shuttles and buses and stuff.

But I like it. I was never into the dorm thing. Dorms seem a little like summer camp and less like real life to me. I like the autonomy that comes with apartment life.

Anywhere but Hedrick Summit lol!
