Reunion Weekend

Anyone been to the Young Alumni casino event in past years? Lame or fun? For $20, is it even open bar if it's otherwise lame?

Its pretty fun and $20 all night is hard to pass up. It usually ends at about 2-2:30am. Lots of people are just graduated or there for the five year.

yeah it was really fun last year. bring a friend or two in case you don't know a lot of people, but as an event it's really well-done.

i'd be going if i wasn't going to be in boston for two sox-yanks games that weekend.

ARC also has its reception over reunion weekend. If you are an ARC member and you have not yet been to one of these receptions/meetings, there is always some interesting information discussed about the admission process. You also have an opportunity to meet your local rep if you have not yet done so. Probably not as much fun as the casino event but interesting nonetheless.

owl, when/where exactly is that? I got an invitation to the whole shebang but can't find it right now

Yeah, I was wondering about that.

So, free booze for the $20? Or is it a cash bar?

It's on Friday at 2:30 or so I recall. Guess it's only for retirees and out-of-towners. ;)

your $20 admission comes with 3 free drinks, and you can sweet-talk your way into more if you tip decently.

Thanks for the timing tip.

Denzera

Sorry - just saw your post and question today

ARC reception is Friday June 1 at 2:30pm
Dont know if you have to pre-register for the event

It usually meets in the admission office in Hamilton.

The linki is here

crap, i have red sox / yankees tickets for friday night, in boston. this is not an easy dilemma.

I'd pick the ballgame. Easy.

I'm still in shock about graduating and can't really bring myself to do anything "alum"-oriented...

....agreed

So today the Columbia Alumni Association sends a letter saying they've obtained six months of free $25,000 life insurance for us graduates. Thanks, CAA, but health insurance is what I really need - although I guess when it runs out and I'm left to die, life insurance is the next best thing: to clothe and feed my nonexistant dependents.

Great. What's the point of 25K life insurance, anyway? After they bury you, that's not even much left for clothing and feeding. I wonder if CAA actually spent money for this gimmick.

Of course not. What 22 year old is going to buy life insurance? It's just a way to attempt to show they're generous (and that you should be reciprocally generous too...)
