I’m applying for the SSA scholarships, and have now gotten to the essay portion. I have access to essays that were submitted by an applicant last year, and they received SSA scholarships. If I tweak these essays, would I get in trouble for submitting a similar essay?
If they catch you, yes. They might rescind your acceptance to the university if you get caught, so don’t do it.
Nope. Nope. Nope. Always do your own work. With everything digitized, the university can easily detect plagiarism.
At IU and many colleges they use cameras and all kinds of ways to catch students stealing others work. You might as well get used to doing your own work right now instead of someone else’s. Not sure what program you are pursuing but this isn’t high school and programs like the Business School are tough for a reason. A lot of kids think the essay writing will slow down or stop once they get to college. It only ramps up - more material covered, less time to do it and plenty of weed out classes to figure out who can make the cut. Tell you own story, especially because you may find yourself sitting across from the person who read and reviewed those essays one day.
