I applied to both UChi and Case Western EA. I used my Chicago essay for both schools. I am sure that the Case ad com will realize that the string essay was taken from Chicago. Will they care that I recycled the essay? One of their suggestions for their "topic of your choice" essay was an essay you wrote for a scholarship application. I'm otherwise pretty qualified for Case- 2250 SAT, top 5% of my class...
Did anyone else use their Chicago essay for another school either this year in the past? Will doing so hurt my chances at Case?

I did the first essay which basically just described me. So, I will most likely reuse that one as it kind of fits into a lot of other prompts.

No offence, though, but the string essay was very particular. I guess it just depends on how you did it...

you shouldn't have much trouble getting into case either way... their acceptance rate's above 70, and you have a 2250...

Whether they will care or not is open for debate. On one hand, Case said you could reuse an essay; on the other hand, they know they have competition from U Chicago.

Either way, there's nothing you can do about it now, so just relax and wait 5 weeks for decisions. :)

I'm using my Chicago essay (option 1, the one with a quote from Langston Hughes) for Penn as well.

My S used his Chicago essay for another "reach" and was accepted at the school as well as Chicago, if that helps.

Well, if we're bringing in anecdotes...I used my Chicago essay (the teleportation one) for Davidson, and I was admitted to both schools.
