Rev up the helicopeter or back away?

Unfortunately, mousegray, as I said before, I have seen plenty of scenarios in which a situation was confronted in a highly efficient manner, and the only issue was the age of the confronter. If you are under 25, many in authority unfortunately tend to not take you as seriously as they should. I have seen it with a freind’s local police and justice system too.

It might have been the age or it might have been the written vs phone. When you write (either via email or snailmail) and you copy higher admins they know you are serious and there is no “not getting the message.” Putting things in writing is also more “legal” since those addressed have verifiably notified of the problem.

In any case, congratulations! In the end, it was solved to your satisfaction fairly easily.

limulus, I would make sure that the Dean of Student Affairs and other higher-ups (even the Pres.) are aware that the housing office ignored your daughter’s calls for FOUR STRAIGHT DAYS (in addition to blowing her off before you first posted here). That’s just unconscionable. Sounds to me like there need to be some serious personnel changes in that office.

Really. Colleges complain about helicopter parents all the time, but if they act like this, they deserve all the helicopters they get. Cue “Ride of the Valkyries”! I love the smell of napalm in the morning!
