A lot of people say it's one of the worst. Please, someone comfort me and tell me it's not so. I ranked Revelle as my #1 choice. >.<

How are the dorms?
The GE classes?
What about the social atmosphere there?

The GE classes?
What about the social atmosphere there?

I've seen the dorms...they don't even compare to my dorm (I'm in ERC).

As for the GE classes I think the majority of people will agree they have the toughest.

I have no idea about the social atmosphere though...

Oh jeez. Can we switch colleges?

Revelle GE reqs:

humanities 5 quarter courses
foreign language 0-4
fine arts 1
natural sciences 5
mathematics 3
social sciences 3
area of focus 3

all that science and math does not appeal to me

got this from an ucsd info booklet... about 1 year old

warren and muir seemed to have the easier GEs

revelle's not bad, depends what major you are for ge's. I fulfilled most with ap, and have hum, chem, and phys left, which I need for my major anyway.

revelle students study very hard, but i hear when they party, they like to party hard as well :)

I think you could switch colleges after a few years. However, I've heard it's pretty hard to do; I wouldn't count on being able to switch.

Just make the best of it. You'll be fine

dont trip! revelle is pretty cool, i mean sure..sometimes i feel i would be better off at marshall or muir or something but its not the end of the world. I dont know about the other colleges but revelle is one of the most spirited and we have lots of random events. For example..we saved the most energy in our dorms (OMG!..hahaha) compared to other colleges and we got free burgers. We celebrated Revelle's bday recently and everyone got cake. Sometimes they randomly give out ice cream! these FREE food events have probably happened like 5+ish times already.

our college assembly does a great job putting on events too..there are usually posters around revelle to advertise them. i usually check out some with my friends.

Dorms are not bad..that is unless you get fleets..those rooms are SMALL. and if you have a triple in there...hahaha..im sorry but its kind of "game over" for you..i have seen triples in fleets..not something to be excited about. The better dorms are Argo and Blake (bigger rooms too) and they are more friendly i guess cus we are arranged in a square shape so ppl can walk around on the floor and pop into their friends' places if they want to.

GEs are yeah...not great but you can pass out of A LOT. US history AP gets you out of some GEs. Passing AP Foreign language class or 700+ on SATII for foreign lang gets you out. and when ppl talk about revelle they say "OMG THERE IS SO MUCH MATH, CHEM, BIO, PHYSICS for GEs!" ..and i say "well, if you are a science major..usually works best for biosciences or premed..then you have tot take those classes ANYWAY. For engineering..my friends (CSE, EE, ME) have to take chem and bio..for the GE cus they dont need it for their major. the GEs only suck if you are NONSCIENCE major (arts, theater, humanities).

so i wouldnt worry, Revelle is pretty tight..lots of SMARTIES here too. I would only worry if you are a nonscience major..then i would probably cry over the crapload of GE that arent even necessary for my major

Revelle easily has the most general ed. requirements followed by ERC. BTW, I was able to transfer out of ERC. I don't care about anything aside from Gen. Ed. requirements though.

The fleet's rooms aren't even that small. I'm a Muir student living at Revelle and personally, I love it. It's so close to York (where a bunch of my classes are) and when I saw my friend's triple in Warren, I was GRATEFUL for how spacious my double here is. If there's a lot of people in it, it seems pretty small, but I'm definitely not complaining. Not as big as it would have been in Muir, but whatever. Plaza's food is also not bad. A lot of people complain about it, but I personally think it's pretty decent, and I'm usually a picky eater (and I'm also pretty knowledgeable about food).

Your GE's... I don't know much about, but people graduate. It's not that big of a deal. And you can take Humanities 3-5 at community college over the summer, and it's supposedly much easier.

yeah i heard that muir has easiest GEs and revelle has generally the hardest.

lots of really smart people there , ahha im thinking because they wanted to challenge themselves...

From what I've seen, Revelle is average. Their dorm buildings look like an administration building to me. I was surprised when my friend told me they were dorms. No comment on HUM (the GE requirement) since I'm not a Revelle student. Since A LOT of Revelle students are majoring in the sciences, don't expect much social activity. However, it IS there, I've seen it. lol.
