Revelle wasn't my first choice, but I still got it =[ So can anyone tell me about their dorms and apartments? What are the pros and cons of each? Is Revelle's GEs really that hard? Five humanities courses sound hardcore. And, is their food really that bad? Thank you =]

I just got in to Revelle too and have been asking around.
It was my first choice because it looks good when you apply to grad school, everyone knows it’s difficult. Still, it’s college, difficulty is to be expected.
A few people have told me you can eat anywhere, you don’t have to eat at your own college. Also, it’s closest to the beach and has nice rooms.
Other than that i know nothing. :)

Revelle doesn’t exactly sport the nicest housing on campus in terms of dorms but I think they’re building new apartments right now for Revelle. I’m not sure when those will be finished though. The dorms are pretty old and if you have t-mobile, you get basically no cell phone reception in your room. Plaza (Revelle’s cafeteria) food isn’t exactly the greatest, but you can eat at any cafeteria on campus.

if you scroll down to the bottom of this thread, there are lots of “similar threads” that talk about revelle. I’d also recommend doing a search.

Since you can eat anywhere on campus, I recommend doing so. The food is… not good. And the dorms aren’t that bad though. The triples are huge compared to Warren’s, like three times as big.

The apartments revelle is building right now will be available to the second year students of 2011. So if you’re an entering freshman (myself included) we are the lucky first ones in the new apartments. And I have t-mobile and I almost had a heart attack because I thought I had no service, but if you’re by a window, and one wall of the dorms is a window, then service is fine.

Being in Revelle doesn’t look any better to grad schools.

Good luck having tmobile at UCSD… got rid of mine after like 2 months

I’m also a Reveller coming in. From orientation I can tell you:

The dorms aren’t very new. They just look like regular old dorm rooms. The one I had had a busted screen door on the window and there were stains on the blinds/drawers. Still livable? Of course, its not THAT bad. Its just a room. Unless you are 100% clean freak it won’t bother you that much.

New apartments are going up and the class of '14 is gonna be the first class to be eligible to live in these sophomore year, so don’t fret.

Apparently they will be renovating the dorms throughout the year. When I went for orientation they already started.

^Yeah you make a good point, the dorms aren’t that bad. Quite honestly, the triple’s there are HUGE.

I was in a triple and a double in Blake, and both were big. Triples do get a little crowded though, especially if someone is messy. Renovating the dorm??!? But you will not have the TRUE college experience of having to kick 2 out of 3 windows open just to open them, or the privilege of having a few missing drawers

bad thing about revelle is u get no service if u have t-mobile! :(

So, how is AT&T? When I visited I always had bars, but they seemed to hover between 1-3.

edit: I don’t mean just in Revelle, btw. I mean in general (I guess specifically in Warren, but still everywhere as well.)

^AT&T works fine everywhere.
