Hello everybody,
I just wanted to write a review of the AIB pre college residency program for anyone interested. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

First off, this program is great for upcoming juniors-though I would be hesitant to attend if you are an upcoming senior. Its set up in a way that you can really explore and try out new things, and while you can get some portfolio work, its more based on learning how to make portfolio worthy work than actually making it. Since you take 5 or 6 classes for 3.5 weeks, I would recommend trying a variety of things and keeping an open mind through the course-you might not think you are learning anything or creating anything "worthy", but by the last class you will realize how much you improved. The anatomy and figure drawing classes, the illustration class, the animation class, the sculpture class, the 2-d-3d pop class, book art and summer sketchbook are all great classes to take. There is also a really strong photo department.
The teachers are great, and the people in the residency program are amazing. You can definitely find "your people".
The weekends have a lot of museum tours, which some people hated though I personally enjoyed. There is still plenty of free time to explore the city though (especially adjacent harvard square) and that adds a lot to the program.
Students dorm at lesley white hall....the food is...decent. Better than I expected, but its still dorm food. The dorms themselves aren't bad, but they don't have air conditioning which can be pretty painful-if you go, have at least two fans in your room.
