Review this list

Could your parents afford to have you apply to two more - to schools where you may get scholarships (as none of the schools on your list, except maybe Denver, will offer you any type of scholarship)?
Also, I would encourage you to look at smaller schools, perhaps LACs since you wouldn’t have to deal with huge campuses - a compact campus may be best for you. If you’re worried about the social scene or entertainment, email admissions to ask them to send you a sample weekend’s offerings on campus (all the activities offered by any club, group, college/dept… from Thursday through Sunday).
Have you checked out Scripps, by the way? (Any major you need is likely found either there, through Keck Science Institute, And/or another Claremont College).

I did not do the math in terms of money to spend for admission, but since you bought it up, I’ll do it now. Anyway I’m open to check out /apply other options if they are worth it.

for Scripps, I feel like it is a reach more than a match? I don’t know, but the avg. SAT seems high. (and anyway, I don’t really like the neuroscience program)

Yes Scripps is a reach but I’m surprised you don’t like their major , what with the consortium and the Keck Institute …

I know! It’s just that their Neuroscience program leans much more on the biology part than the psychological part

Anyway I did a bit of math, and I noticed that if I apply to every college I said I will spend 600 usd. Since I’m not really that sure I will be able to actually come to the US, I think this is an insanely high amount of money.

For this reason I have to cut off some universities (even if I like them, sigh)

UCLA - too reachy? but one of my two dream school

UCSD

U of Arizona - not really that good? and I want to double major in two program that req. pre-major status and I don’t know if it is possible? (Business Management/Marketing and Cog Sci)

Denver U - doesn’t really have my major? but still a very very interesting program. plus little campus very cute, but in a city that I didn’t consider?

Arizona State - not really that good, plus doesn’t have my major at all, plus too much party?

UCSC - in the woods, but two programs I really like? (Economics Management and Cog Sci)?

UCI - not really a city I considered. plus, I don’t know how distant is from major cities/I don’t know if there is much to see (aka concerts), I am not sure if Cog Sci is still active? (I’m emailing them now)

I stated the “problems” and things I like for the different schools, can you help me @MYOS1634‌?
I’m sorry I bother you so much, I should’ve paid more attention.
The amount of money I wanted to spend was like 200/300 USD

edit: the UCI’s Cog Sci program will be active.
plus, I also found FAU, but it is a tier 4 school. should I bother to consider it?

Based on what you said, I’d keep UCLA, UCI, and UCSC, and I’d cross out UDenver UArizona and ASU.
See if there are universities that don’t have a fee and where you’d have your major (or would combine several majors like Psychology and Biology with an option to work on your own research project linking both?)
FAU has a specific Honors College (on a separate campus) that is very science-oriented, with research options with nearby labs. Check out Wilkes Honors College. You’d almost certainly get admitted and get a scholarship too, since they’re trying to build the program.

FAU would cost me (if I’m not wrong) 40 USD (app + SAT score) but still I don’t know if it’s worth to apply to a school this low-ranked as an international student. Still, I will look at it more in depth. I also see that the deadline for international is April 1st, so I will have time to apply eventually.

Do you think would be a good idea to cross out UCLA? I feel like it’s worthless to apply there, but I don’t know…

FAU itself, no, not a good idea, but Wilkes, probably worth it - check it out - they have their own website.
Why would you think applying to UCLA is pointless?

As an international student, none of these schools will be safeties for you. You can’t use the American admissions profile for these schools. International students need to have much higher stats, especially if applying to an honors college. 1900 superscored isn’t gonna cut it, especially for public schools who give priority to in state students, then out of state students, then international students.

@MYOS1634‌ I will check it out then!
Well my stats are lower than their avg stats and, as @AnnieBeats‌ I’m an int student, which gives me low chance of being accepted.
I also contacted UArizona and they say I can double major.
So basically now I have UCSD, UCLA, UCSC, UCI, UArizona and maybe FAU.
I will apply for honors in every college I think, but if I don’t get in I will re-apply after the 1st semester (well, given that it will be positive).
Still, the list is too expensive (IMO, I go through every school with my parents and decide, but first I want some expert help). Cutting off some UCs seems like the best option to cut the cost, but should I do it? and which UC should I cut?
right now I’m thinking about UCLA (too reachy), UCI (commuter?) UCSC (woods and not so good).

Actually being international can help. it’s. only harder if you need financial aid. - them it gets much much harder than for domestic applicants. It’s actually slightly easier to get into a uc as an international . But I agree : you can still cut from that list. But how about you fill out the ‘Request info’ form, check out Fiske and other college guides etc before making a final decision ? If you cut ucsc no reason to keep Arizona as they are roughly the same level academically . I would leave that list be for now … and seek colleges that are free to apply to and have compact campuses .

@MYOS1634‌ I wrote to every college we named to have info! I will try to find Fiske online. No college would be free to apply to for me, since every one will need the SAT (11 usd if I’m not wrong)

I meant no app fee :)

@MYOS1634‌ these schools should be safeties, right?

There are all kinds of schools (varying levels) that are “free to apply to”. They encompass various degrees of selectivities and wouldn’t all be safeties for you. Now, you could select a couple additional safeties from that list, yes.

thank you!
