Hey guys I have been really interested in WashU. And am fairly positive I can get in.
Anyways the real question is do any of you all know about the Computer Science department at WashU. I understand that it is considered the Stanford of the Midwest, but does it still hold a prestigious spot in the software age. Would you all recommend it if I were to get in? The major thing that caought my attention would be the duel program because I wanted to do economics with CS. Also what are some great schools for software engineering besides the big names like MIT, CalTech, and Stanford.
Thanks for all your help

No one should be “fairly positive” about admission to Wash U. The admissions process can be a crap shoot. Other schools for software engineering could be Carnegie Mellon, University of Washington, Rose-Hulman, Case Western Reserve, or Purdue.

What I meant was my grades and connections give me a great chance.
But yes you are right nothing is certain.
Do you know any “cheap” schools or underated as a better word.
cheap is a good word but I couldn’t think of anything.
Close to vicinity of NAshville Tennessee
Thanks again

Feel free to private message me any questions…I am a senior in Engineering majoring in Computer Science, Economics, and Mathematics (fun, I know) but seems to match what you’re looking for.

For a computer related degree, the Stanford of the midwest seems to be a couple hours north in urbana, IL. In fact, I see that UIUC is actually tied in rank with Stanford in this field of study.

WashU does not appear in the top ranking computer engineering; it does, however, appear as a top school in BME.
