Reviews on PE Classes

So I think I'll sign up for a PE next semester for entertainment purposes, but I haven't narrowed it down much yet. Could anybody offer any advice/reviews/testimonials from any of the following classes?

Archery, High Adventure, Rock Climbing (indoor and outdoor), Tree Climbing, Caving, and Wilderness Survival.

I'm also considering one of the martial arts classes, but i'm less interested (specifically Judo, Jeet Kune Do, Karate, Kung Fu, or Tae Kwon Do).

I’ve heard great things about Tree Climbing.

tree climbing, eh? do the liberal tree hugging hippie instructors teach you how to avoid tree spikes? D:

i took archery twice!, it’s a pretty good class. at the end theres a tournament and 1 2 3 gets plaques. my friend won first place and took home a nice looking plaque. the last day of class you get to shoot balloons! that was fun, you get to see the balloons dodge your arrows haha

This is pretty exciting. Cornell’s known for its outdoor fitness. I went last week and one freshman I met mentioned she took a tree climbing class, and she also (like you guys have heard) said that it’s an awesome class. Apparently, they’re tall trees too. Whoo!

I heard that there’s an ice skating class, but that costs money apparently -> why?!

Nearly every PE class costs money. Mostly for materials I believe. Equipment/travel isn’t cheap.

I took ice skating this past semester.

It was AMAZING :)

Do they have like a hip hop dance class or something? haha

Just wondering, do they have wrestling as a class?

If freshmen take a gym class in the fall, do they also take 4 academic classes? I don’t really want to take on a very large load in my first semester.

Yes, you will most likely take 4 academic classes + 1 credit gym.

My friend is teaching Tree Climbing next semester. He said it is 4 (maybe more) weekends on Saturdays and one night in a tree. It is a few hours out of every Saturday for a month, but you get it done early, which is a plus.

So how often do PE classes meet a week? Once, twice…?

Can anyone give any feedback on the intro to fishing course? It’s something that interests me and I want to know a student’s experience with that class.

i think how often they meet depends on the class. like for the tree climbing class or other similar courses wher eyou have to go off campus or travel, they usually meet on weekends, so not that often. my host was in a swedish massage class and i think she said they met three times a week. i think thats pretty average

How many students are in a typical PE class?

I am taking intro boxing next semester, have heard great things about it. Probably joining boxing club too.

i heard good things about the Relaxation & Strees Management class. one of the profs in CAS said she thought every student should take it it really helps

my tour guide during cornell days took the relaxation & stress management class, and she said it was really great!
