[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]

General Comments: I need like…HELP…, always tried to convince myself its not easy to get in, must be ready to face rejection…but truth is so much harder…its like breaking me up day by day lol i know…lame… i can’t imagine myself anywhere else…, and i know i won’t let this go …like ever lol wow i’m sad… but if i am to apply else where, other ivies for example, what could i do better? improve my SATphysics? or reasoning?, i’m already taking the hardest courses possible…, i have enough credits to graduate in canada now and go to a university…, maybe my essays? and perhaps suck up to counselor abit more and try to ask him put more things on the school froms? lol, also i transferred schools (moved) at the end of gr10, so new school for gr11 and 12, …kinda hard to establish relationships so fast you know? especially teachers/counselors here don’t have to do crap for their students applying to canadian universities…which everyone does at my school except me, my schools only sent 1 person to Cornell, (or any other noteworthy school for that matter) like 8 years ago, and he was a pro basketball player
*sigh sorry for the rant guys… i’m just …devastated… congrats to everyone who got in!!

Decision: Accepted CAS

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 2030/2400
[] SAT IIs:730 on Literature and 640 on Math II
[] GPA: 3.92
[] Rank: Barely in top 10% (43/434 or something)
[li] Other stats: Have yet to take any AP classes because my school stacks prereqs to keep anyone but seniors from taking them and only offers six APs anyway.
[/li]

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: about my experiences at TASP and how I desired to view the world as a series of interconnected problems between the liberal arts and the sciences and how CAS seemed like the place which would most allow for that approach… apparently good enough.
[] Teacher Recs: I thought good, but was told later that the teachers I asked have been known to write very short and generalized recs… so I honestly have no idea.
[] Counselor Rec: Should be amazing
[] Hook (if any): Cornell TASP 2008

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Michigan, USA
[] School Type: Relatively large public

-Captain of school’s Quiz Bowl team
-Paints sets for musicals
-Did forensics for a year
-Tutor math during the school year
-Played tennis for two years
-NMSC Semi-Finalist

General Comments:
Honestly, I’d thought I had good stats until I saw those of people who got rejected. My only guess on this is that my TASP experience may have helped (the universities do fund a large part of TASPs in the expectation of receiving TASP applicants) Otherwise I am now totally confused.

I must say, the number of deferrals or rejections for applicants with a 1450+ and in the top ten percent of their class should cement in everybody’s mind that Cornell looks beyond the numbers.

**Decision:Accepted- CoE **

[] Hook (if any): none really.
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Georgia
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity:White
[li] Gender:Female[/li][/ul]Other Factors: I think they took my transfer into account b/c i went from a class of 11 to one of 552… taking 2 college classes this year…i don’t really know what else…National Merit semifinalist
General Comments: I"M SO ECSTATIC!!! Go Big Red!!! AH

isn’t it pretty obvious from these posts that ur gpa is the most important factor for getting into cornell? seriously look at all the guys who got accepted; like almost all of them have 3.8+ gpa. as for sat, i’m guessing that does not matter too much.

i think it is even more obvious that no part of the application can be called the most important factor, especially not GPA

accepted CoE and I’m not even in the top ten percent of my class

**Deferred: CALS **

Stats:[ul]

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Average for Cornell
[] Teacher Recs: Average
[] Counselor Rec: Fantastic
[] Hook (if any): Half-Mexican
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: NJ
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Half-Mexican
[li] Gender: M[/li][/ul]Other Factors: Wrote a mini separate essay on my parent’s divorce and how it affected my grades for sophomore/junior year, but it was mostly about how I grew from it.
General Comments: Wow, I knew that I did not have much of a chance anyway, but my application was mixed up during the decision-making process, and I was pretty much auto-deferred in Cornell’s words. I am so upset because I really felt like my only chance was through ED, and now the only way I’ll get in is if they realize at the last second that they do not have enough Mexican-Americans. I’m going to try all I can to convince Cornell to look at my application as if it were ED for RD, because it is not fair if it does not.

ive always heard that some schools within cornell was more difficult to get into (stat-wise). but it seems like it’s more about fit.

should the essay for cornell’s supplement be about your major and career goals, or more about the specfic programs at cornell you like…could it be about how those specfic programs would help you with your career?..I am freaking out, I am probably going to get rejected in RD…

Decision: Accepted CAS

[] Essays: Personal one was great, interest one…eh.
[] Teacher Recs: I’m assuming good
[] Counselor Rec: Very good
