Can you afford all of these schools after running the EFC calculator for each school?

i can. Any thoughts. Do you think i have a good shot at getting into any of my reaches and are all matches truly matches.

Not enough info. Esp saying ECs, recs, etc average. Do you expect SAT to go up 100 pts? Any hooks or geographic advantage?

There’s no reason to apply to some many of these schools. Cut some of them out.

I agree with lilmelonred to some extent. Before you apply to school, consider if you’d actually go there. If you can’t see yourself at the school in a few years, cut it off your list.

some of your schools have a heavy greek presence. if that does not bother you I think lehigh is the best of the reaches, syracuse also is a great school.
best all around would be muhlenebrg.
IU would be a great place if you like big state schools.

University of Miami is a reach. The average weighted gpa is a 4.2 and the average SAT (out of 1600) is 1330. UM doesn’t look at the writing section on the SAT, and they are getting significantly more competitive each year. It’s selectivity is on par with Northeastern, Tulane and GW. You still have a shot though, so it’s worth applying.

finalchild: try and be a little more helpful rather than stating what is wrong with my thread.

A27: Thank you. This is exactly the kind of answer i was looking for. Much appreciated.

zobroword: do i have a good shot at lehigh?

Yes if I were you I would be looking for at cutting down your list than adding to it. I’m assuming you’re a junior. At this time last year I had about a solid 8 schools that I was considering. You’ve got a lot of categories on that list that could be consolidated into 3, safeties, match, and reach. Start narrowing some of those down, like on your safeties you have 2 SUNY schools, and 5 total ones.

you do have a shot for Lehigh, but it’s appropriately placed in the reach section. Your SAT scores would put you right around the 25th percentile.

Thank you for the advice. I think im going to do what you said(narrow down and add on). Also, Lehigh is one of my top choices and im considering applying ED there instead of Emory since im pretty sure Emory is a long shot.

jisaacs, you’re kidding, right? You were looking for feedback, you weren’t getting any, you kept asking, and I told you how you could get more feedback.

Geez, kids these days. You will not be getting in your beloved Northeastern (or Lehigh) with your scores/gpa, unless they change or you got something else in the bag.

id appreciate more helpful post like the 2nd part of your other post. To answer your question, no, i was not kidding.

I think you might be overestimating your chances. Do you know college p r o w l e r ?
I would create a profile there and then plug in your stats. Then add all of your schools to the “maybe” list. When you open that list, it will show your percentile for each of the schools.
I’d suggest the following:
Over 80th percentile: safety 60th-80th match (if hoping for financial aid), 50th-80th percentile if not hoping for financial aid, and below 50th percentile - reach. Below 30th percentile is a super reach, don’t apply to more than one of those.

Final child has it right. You can get more help by posting more info. What are your ECs? Do you intend to continue participation in college? What state are you in? Why are your recs average? Figure out how they can be GREAT! Take the SAT again and try the ACT to get a better score. Study for each. What classes are you taking now? Senior year plan?

Then make a spread sheet and see where you fall for each on GPA/test scores. Are you really full pay at each school, including the OOS universities? How many have you visited and could you really see yourself there? Be honest about your potential acceptance.

Then list what is important to you: location, size, academics, athletics, ease of changing major, clubs, Greek life, internship availability, study abroad.

It’s hard to give you feedback with so little information. Fit really matters.

I seriously don’t know how you took offense to the 1st post. I said more info would be helpful, and then as you say, I had “second part” to that post. Wow. Still mad that I disagreed with you about Rochester and NEU? Do you think you provided enough info for anyone to intelligently comment on your list of about 30 schools? Do you just want the “best” one you can get in, or one that fits and where you’ll be happy?

I’ll take a shot in the dark and say Bentley is the one for you.

Rochester??? what?? I didnt take offense and i car about both. i want the best one i can get into that is a good fit for me.
