To give you my specific example, I got a 710/72% on Quant. in June. It should’ve stayed 710/72% through next year, but a few days ago when ETS released the new test information, it dropped to 710/69% with a new Estimated Current Score of 155.

Fortunately, this year, I’m mostly safe. I sent all my score reports *before *the change occured so schools will see my 72% unless they scan the new conversion to find it’s actually 69%. IOW, if I were to send score reports now, or next year, it would show “710/69%/155.” As you can see, that looks slightly worse than “710/72%.”

Oppositely, my 4.5 AWA score was 67% back in June. Today it’s 72%. Unfortunately nobody cares about the Analytical Writing score, much less the percentile.

The reason why I suspect percentiles changed so dramatically is that 1) the new test (Q+V) might inherently be easier (thus more people are getting a 710 and higher), while the essays got harder) and 2) the testing population got smarter, as normal. <– #2 would account for a 1-2% change usually but the 3-5% change this year has to be due to a new test.

It makes me want to get into school more than ever this year. I do not want to have to take the GRE again. Hopefully my “deflated” scores are good enough for this year.

I’m a little confused by the conflicting results, here. I checked the concordance chart and both my verbal and quant scores are in the range that they were predicted to be when I took the exam in late September, though on the slightly lower end for quant. I received a 159 (82nd %) which converts to a 750 on the chart, which matches up to the range of 730-800 that I got when I took the test.

I took 9/19/11, so I was in the “test batch” that just got posted. I received range-estimates in the “old” format immediately after testing–on the screen.

V/estimate was 600-700. Actual score was 160 and the ETS concordance table says it is a 610 on the old scale.

Q/estimate was 468-568. Actual score was 146 and the ETS concordance table says it is a 560 on the old scale.

4.5 on the AW.

I have a BA in Psychology & English and a BS(N) in Nursing. My Psych GPA was 3.75. My nursing GPA was 4.0. English–not so much ;)

I have three solid letters of recommendation, 12 years as a nurse and am trying to get into a BSN-DNP program at one of the top 4 national schools. I think my program wants >1000 and >500 on the Q section.

I feel that the test is not a good representation of my abilities. That being said, I decided on a Wednesday that I was going to take it on the following Monday and did no preparation for it outside of the two days before. Lesson learned.
