Revisit Experiences - Decisions 2010

I think it is a great idea to discuss your revisit experiences. What worked well and what didn't?Has any school changed your mind after revisit? Which school did you choose and what were the important factors to you in that choice?

As soon as I get back from Exeter I’ll share it with everybody!

Hey, was it necessary to go?

I was in love with two schools, so I decided to go to both revisit days and see which one I would end up loving more. Now that I am done with both I still can’t decide which one to attend, they both felt so right! This decision is going to be hard.

Ruthie- What two schools?

I’m kind of scared of that happening- this decision impacts your life for the next four years and you can’t undo it… aaah! I’m so jealous of people that have a clear first choice.

May be you can quantify the good feeling. Make a list of top 5 things you like and not like about the schools. Give them weightage like 5, 4, … -5, -4 depending of how important that parameter is to you and compute the score. This might make it easier to decide.

bamagirl - Northfield Mount Herman, and Lawrenceville :/

NMH is not in the same league as L’ville. This should be an easy decision, not

they’re both pretty different schools, it depends on what you’re looking for… lville = more day students (not substantially, but 12% more), stronger academics (reflected through SAT scores), better matric, more competitive/intense… however, perhaps you would shine at NMH and just become average at lville and so forth… if you make the best out of either schools, you have a shot at a great university anyways…

TOSS A COIN!

Ruthie, don’t make this decision based on any kind of ranking or tier factor. My son applied to both and liked them for different reasons. He would have had a difficult time as well. The geography of each school is very different. Do you want easy access to NYC and Philadelphia? Which is closer to home or does that matter? NMH has the block scheduling that my son found really appealing. Both schools seemed to have very happy students. You can get a top education at either school. You really can’t go wrong. Try to think a little into your future. What do you think you will like in 2 or 3 years? Is the house system for you?

My 2 cents, Go back to post#8. Better weather is a bonus. :)

Sorry pulsar, but not everyone looks at prestige as the deciding factor for where someone wants to spend the next four years of his or her life.

I agree. :)

has anyone revisited loomis? what did you think?

Wow I didnt think that many people would respond to me haha
Anyways I understand the two schools are very diffrent but I am still loving both.
For me it has nothing to do with which ranks better, or which has higher scores and what not. Its mainly about where I will do better and where I will feel more at home. I love NMH for alot more reasons then L’ville but the reasons I love L’ville are more important, for instance it is only an hour away from home. This is a very big decision for me and my parents are not making it any easier haha

why else do you love L’ville?

Rad-in-Plaid96 - Its close to home, I would still be able to play for my AAU basketball team, the houseing system is great, and their sports house is also great.

what about NMH?

Better to post all your revisit experiences and decisions in one place on this thread.

bump…bump
