Many views, no posts, though most revisits seem to be complete. Looks like Senioritis has taken over!! :D

well some of us havent been lucky enough to have gone to a revisit…

Just returned from revisit days…very interesting visits.

L’ville is beautiful and wonderful school, just not the right fit for my d.

The moment she walked on Deerfield’s grounds we knew, after seeing her AO and the great hug she gave to my d, I knew I was going to be thrilled with the selection.

We canceled our friday revisit with Exeter…just no need to go :-).

Hurray for your happy ending! I’m so thrilled (and it’s Exeter’s loss). It’s how we feel about the schools my daughter is revisiting. Felt like she was part of the family from the interview forward. Our revisits are this week. It’s going to be hard for her to decide so we told her to just go with her gut after the campus visits.

You are wise, A! I’m so thrilled for you!

Rad-in-Plaid96 - I love all the coaches and staff at nmh, more laid back community, block schedualing, no dress code, no saturday classes, the dorm life is very close, and their campus is less confusing for me haha, oh and plus they have better food ! (:

I am in the same situation. I am deciding between Lawrenceville and Peddie. I can’t decide either. Peddie definately has a warmer environment. The kids seem happier and I think I would have more of an opportunity to shine since it is smaller. I am not sure whether Lawrenceville’s academics are more challenging. I know I will have to work hard at either place. Also, I am not sure the house system is for me. It felt like Peddie was more cohesive with regard to school spirit since it is not divided by a house system. I don’t know. What do you think?

Lucky,

I loved the house system at L’ville, though the students were “pro-their-house” the school spirit was everywhere.

Though they have 800 i believe it did surprisingly close knit. It was wonderful, just not for my d.

Sorry I cant compare to peddie, we didnt visit or reseach it.

Why is it not for your d? What’s the thing(s) that Deerfield has and L’ville doesn’t and is critical for your decision?

Benley,

My d liked the more formal dress of DA, L’ville is very casual lots of kids in jeans.

DA’s campus is “anti-cell phone” in terms of walking on campus talking or texting, my d is not a big cell phone person. They have an “un-written” law to be social when walking on campus.

The dance program was stronger for my d and more or what my d was looking for, a major chance for her to choreograph. She loves dancing, a very good dancer but not professionally.

She really enjoyed the sit down meals 7 times a week, must be dressed and not an option to miss. You don’t have to eat, but must show up. I found lot of “rules” or “guidelines”. I am a parent of structure and boundaries, and I think my d finds comfort in this fact and some of DA policies.

We come from a very small family, my d has no siblings, no cousins, a long list of only kids, therefore small, intimate, was extremely important.

We were looking for a good high school experience that would fit her needs.

SPS was her second choice, but was waitlisted, decision was not as difficult for us as for others.

Does that explain?

It certainly does. Thanks for that. I think it helps to others who are trying to make similar decisions or want to know more about these schools.

The “anit cell” thing is very interesting to me, something I didn’t know about.

Hearing the comments following revisit days is the best part of CC every year. It’s the one time during the admission’s process when the heart is firmly in charge (or should be). To those kids who come away from their revisits feeling happier about a school that gets short shrift on this site, remember that your health and happiness are more important than any rankings or page of statistics.

you people r very lucky to get to visit :)

Lady,

you arent going to visit/revisit, have you made your decision?

Anyone revisited andover? I’m going tommorow

candidate: I revisited and it was awesome! My guide was so nice and all her friends were really welcoming. I had to sit through some double periods, but I got to attend the All School Meeting, which was fun because it included the presidential candidates’ speeches!
But you’re lucky because you get to see all the classes, haha. The food will be great, of course. And the weather is so nice! When I was there all the students were sporting Hunter boots and rain jackets.
Have fun!

i strongly recommend doing a revisit day. my revisit days sealed my decision.

when i was applying to schools one school seemed perfect for me, then once i went to the revisit day i completely changed my mind. moreover when i went to a revisit day at a school i previously wasn’t considering, i changed my mind completely and ended up going there.

im going to Andover tomorrow what were most of the people revisiting wearing? im not sure if i should go in like jeans or dress up nicer

We revisited at Deerfield and no one was in jeans, yes they accepted you but still put a good foot forward.

Check the weather and look nice :-).

i was just wondering since andover is a more casual campus than other schools

Check the dress code at Andover and dress within it.
